Metaphysical Techniques

About the show

Appearing during the middle two hours, neurosurgeon John L. Turner M.D. spoke about his spiritual journey and study of metaphysical techniques. During a brain tumor surgery that wasn't going well, he first tried out the power of prayer. "Please let me help stop this bleeding," he thought, and miraculously the patient started to do better almost immediately. It was as though "I was tapping into a higher power," he explained, and this incident launched his quest to study such areas as life-after-death, EVP, remote viewing, and out-of-body experiences.

Setting up a method known as Radio Sweep to capture EVP (electronic voice phenomena), Turner believes he captured the distinct voice of his deceased friend Martin Simmonds, uttering the word "hello."

Working with Serial Killers

First hour guest, psychologist Vonda Pelto talked about her work with serial killers. With her office, a converted cell on a serial killer cell block, she got to know people such as Kenneth Bianchi (the Hillside Strangler) quite well, and these encounters eventually took a toll on her psyche, she said. Serial killers can appear quite normal, like your next door neighbor, though they often have had abusive backgrounds, she detailed.

UFO Update

In the last hour, filmmaker and UFO researcher James Fox discussed his forthcoming documentary, I Know What I Saw. He also spoke about footage of a boomerang-shaped object shot in the 1990s by an Army Colonel. The late Col. had stipulated that the footage, which is now being analyzed, could only be shown after his death.
