Out-of-Body Travels

About the show

Researcher and author Marilynn Hughes discussed her thousands of out-of-body travels, and the meaning behind these experiences. Her latest book, Out-of-Body Experiences: What You Need to Know (free download) moves beyond techniques for achieving OBEs, and looks at the experiences as a spiritual practice. OBEs can be very transformative, helping people to dispel illusions and see the truth about themselves, God, and our life purpose, she said. They can be like a bridge between our world and the eternal, and help the soul to evolve, she added.

Yet, OBEs are a path, not the truth itself, she noted. People can visit both heaven and hell realms, and while you won't get stuck remaining in such places, it's possible for things (like negative entities) to attach themselves to a person and travel back with them, Hughes cautioned.

She described some of her more exotic and profound out-of-body trips. On a planet in the Pleiadian system, she saw a crystalline city with amethyst buildings, and the sky had seven suns. In Alpha Centauri, the sun seemed huge, and when taken to a star system by very advanced humanoid beings, she briefly saw a world that was indescribable yet heavenly.

RV Experiment

First hour guest, remote viewing instructor Paul Smith talked about a recent RV experiment using Twitter that was conducted by Richard Wiseman, a skeptic who studies parapsychology. Smith found the design of the experiment acceptable (it involved Wiseman "tweeting" from random locations) but was critical of the way the target locations were used-- as they weren't differentiated enough from each other.
