  • About the show

JM Dixon (book link), a psychic vampire who feeds on the energy of humans, joined Ian Punnett for the entire program to discuss the vampiric world, their practices, and how one can recognize such beings 'in the wild.'

According to Dixon, vampirism is a kind of spiritual condition. "[A vampire has] a different species of spirit than a normal human, with different needs and different capabilities," he explained. The human body is unable to produce enough energy to feed the more powerful vampire spirit, so energy must be taken through psychic and/or blood feeding, he continued.

Dixon admitted to consuming blood in the past, but now relies solely on psychic energy from volunteer donors and large crowds. Donors benefit from the exchange as well, he noted, as the process ultimately increases their psychic metabolism and can even cure pain by drawing energy away from afflicted areas. Dixon estimated that about 25% of modern vampires continue the practice of drinking blood, and traced their desire for the vital fluid to an ancient curse placed upon Celtic vampires (the Sidhe).

Dixon said vampires tend to be scientifically-minded, possess a deity-like nature and extreme ambition, and are constantly aware of the needs of their spirit. Most humans can sense vampiric beings because they naturally draw attention to themselves, he noted. Dixon also spoke about Vlad the Impaler, the thirteen rules of vampire conduct known as the Black Veil, and what he looks for in a psychic energy donor.

Canadian filmmaker Rob Spence has replaced his own false eye with a miniature, battery-powered video camera. The bionic eye, built with the help of an MIT cyborg expert, can record everything it sees in real time by transmitting wirelessly to a computer. Spence hopes to use the camera-eye to capture people engaged in "truer" conversations than traditional handheld camera work allows. More details and video at Telegraph.co.uk.
