Medical Breakthroughs/ Biblical Discoveries

About the show

In the first half, author and researcher Christian Wilde discussed some of the latest medical research and breakthroughs related to using turmeric and stem cell treatments. Modern science has one of the greatest potential breakthroughs with stem cells, he remarked. There are over 2,500 adult stem cell trials currently in progress. Adult stem cells are the bodies' repair cells, and "they literally circulate in your body, looking for the point of injury...and they heal it," he explained. If your own stem cells can heal your body, such as in the case of heart failure, it would eliminate the need for expensive surgeries, implants, and medications, thus shaking up the medical industry, he noted. Some professional athletes are receiving stem cell treatments outside of the country and successfully reviving their careers, he added.

600 different conditions are said to be helped by turmeric supplements, Wilde reported, and there some 228 FDA trials applying turmeric for everything from schizophrenia to stroke to cancer. In nine out of 11 studies, turmeric shrinks cancerous tumors 81%, he said. In addition, he cited a recipe of 1/3 teaspoon baking soda, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, ½ cup of water to keep your body alkaline, as cancer is said to thrive in an acidic environment. Turmeric is also being used as a treatment for macular degeneration (a kind of vision impairment), which effects some 10 million people.

In the latter half, professor, author and researcher Ken Hanson talked about the possible discovery of Jesus' tomb in Jerusalem. Researchers recently investigated subterranean tombs on the grounds of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem's Old City. Some scholars have questioned whether Jesus was entombed at all, and suggested that he may have been left on the cross after crucifixion. However, Hanson disagrees with this notion, as he cited the importance of burial in the Jewish tradition.

Having visited the Holy Sepulchre site, Hansen believes that Jesus is indeed buried there. One reason he noted is that the tomb is near the location where Pilate conducted Jesus' trial. The tomb/caves at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre have all been emptied out, so there are no relics or human remains as evidence. He also reported on the discovery of some 25 new Dead Sea Scroll fragments, as well as a 7th century BCE papyrus scroll that's written in ancient Hebrew and prominently mentions the city of Jerusalem.
