Phoenix Lights Anniversary/ Mind Principles

About the show

On this, the 20th anniversary of one of the most witnessed and documented mass anomalous aerial events in modern history, known worldwide as the "Phoenix Lights," physician and health educator, Dr. Lynne Kitei, discussed her experience as a key witness and her research that has been at the forefront of this amazing sighting. A variety of craft were seen over a 12-hour period, including a large triangular shape, and some witnesses saw "orbs detach from the main object, go out into the environment, and then re-dock with it," she cited. At one point, Kitei continued, military jets were sent out after a mile-wide object, and as they got closer, the craft's lights dimmed, and then the craft blinked out and disappeared altogether.

According to Kitei, a sense of calmness and connectedness came over many of the 'Phoenix Lights' witnesses, and some even received telepathic messages. The military claimed the Phoenix Lights were nothing more than flares, and on March 8, 2000, the Arizona National Guard staged a series of flares (video) to try and re-enact what people saw in 1997, but this was an utter failure, she said, as it looked nothing like the "Phoenix Lights." Interestingly, she had a UFO sighting in Phoenix around two years before the 1997 incident, in which she and her husband saw three oval orbs hovering in a rock-solid pyramid formation, less than 100 yards from their bedroom window.

In the latter half, editor, author, and voice of occult and esoteric ideas, Mitch Horowitz, discussed positive-mind principles as exemplified by Edgar Cayce, and influential mind control pioneer, Maxwell Maltz, whose 1960s bestseller Psycho-Cybernetics, gained the loyalty of generations of high achievers. While Cayce's ideas about meditation and mental growth were filtered through a biblical perspective, he pointed out that Maltz presented similar notions from a secular, psychological stance. Maltz recommended that people go into a meditative state twice a day. The first meditation is a type of visualization that works to reprogram your psyche by picturing yourself as you'd ideally like to be, Horowitz recounted.

Joseph Murphy, a metaphysical minister, also conveyed some of Cayce's doctrines such as that the mind could shape one's circumstances in part, and have a connection to one's health. In his 1963 book, "The Power of the Subconscious Mind," Murphy suggested that a practical form of prayer is not to make an appeal, but rather to go into a quiet state and picture how you'd like things to be. Horowitz commented that the mind is particularly receptive to visualizations and affirmations when in the hypnagogic state just before falling asleep.
