Tales of the Strange/ Open Lines

About the show

Paranormal aficionado and podcaster Jim Harold shared his latest stories from the world of the strange and unexplained. In one account, a high school senior named Kristen got the scare of her life during a late night run at a drive-thru, where she saw a figure with a head two to three times bigger than a normal human head. She described the head as flat like a pancake with lumps and orifices, and two small black holes in the center for eyes, Harold reported. Kristen discovered someone on Reddit had an experience with a similar creature in the 1980s, he added.

Harold recounted the tale of a comedian who had recently lost his mother and met unexpected beings in a dive bar he was playing. He was there early to rehearse when two bikers, a man and a woman, entered the bar and gave him a message from his deceased mom. The bikers told the comedian his mother was okay and she wanted him to play better venues, Harold explained. "An angel can take any form," he noted. Harold related the experiences of a young woman who confronted poltergeist activity at a friend's house, and had whatever was there attach itself and follow her across the country. "These strange things can kind of hitchhike with us spiritually," he revealed.

Harold also covered the so-called Mandela Effect, in which people seem to have memories of things that did not happen. The most famous of these curious instances involves anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela. Many people seem to recall that he actually died before ever becoming the leader of South Africa... yet he didn't die in our current reality [before he served as President of South Africa]," Harold said. Another notable example centers on the correct spelling of Berenstain Bears, which many incorrectly remember as Berenstein Bears. "Maybe there are multiple realities, somehow maybe we've jumped the track," he suggested.

Open Lines followed in the second half of the program. Felicity in California told George about receiving a missed phone call from her estranged mother three weeks after she died. Curiously, Felicity reported her nephew also received a missed call from her mom during the same period. Jimmy from Ocean City, Maryland, talked about how he has started involuntarily astral projecting at night. Jimmy revealed he most recently encountered a seven-foot tall, golden-colored being with blond hair and blue eyes, dressed in armor, and wielding a sword. Ben in North Carolina recounted a UFO experience he had in 2008. According to Ben, his truck inexplicably stopped after which he noticed a bluish silver metallic sphere in the sky. It started strobing or vibrating then blinked out of view, Ben recalled.
