Top Secret Aircraft / Supernatural Beasts

About the show

In the first half, military aerospace historian, Michael Schratt, discussed classified aircraft developed within the military industrial complex specifically during the buildup of the Cold War and Reagan administration. Aviation writer Bill Scott reported that "extraterrestrial phenomena" was often used a cover when people had sightings of unidentified craft that were part of black projects, and Schratt concurs with this assessment. Further, (the late) Ben Rich of Lockheed told another aviation writer, Jim Goodall, that "we have things in the Nevada desert that are 50 years beyond what you can comprehend. If you've seen it on Star Wars or Star Trek, we've been there, done that, or decided it wasn't worth the effort."

Schratt detailed a number of cases involving strange craft that may or may not have been secret military projects. One incident from the Leonard Stringfield UFO files involved a marine who guarded a hamburger-shaped ship inside a hangar at an undisclosed location in 1963. The 40-ft object, set up on a series of scaffolds, reportedly had opaque windows and diamond-tipped drills and lasers could not even breach the hull of the craft. In 1992, the pilot and co-pilot of United flight 934 flying over California, both witnessed what they believed was an SR-71 "Blackbird" on a route underneath them traveling three times faster than their speed, Schratt recounted. In the latter half, scholar of alchemy and occult lore, Maja D'Aoust, who is also a practicing witch, talked about her work poring through ancient records and occult sources to catalog supernatural beasts and mythical creatures. She believes they represent the true nature of humanity and reflect the primitive origins and the animals that live in us all. Included in her bestiary is Baphomet, the goat-headed hermaphroditic entity usually considered satanic. She characterized Baphomet in a more positive light, representing a being who has seen the face of God.

Gargoyles are supernatural guardians or daimons, similar to the Sphinx or the Griffon. These beings, she said, are not dangerous to humanity but actually guard and protect us. The mythology of the Minotaur (a man with the head and tail of a bull) represents "the secret shames in our mind" that we have to build a labyrinth around, she cited. The goddess Kali became a hero, she continued, as she took the form of a vampire to conquer cannibalistic giants. D'Aoust also talked about her witchcraft practice and conducting rituals, which can be strengthened by taking physical actions such as singing an emotional song during the ceremony.
