Processed Food & Pathologies / Soul Plans

About the show

Professor of pediatrics Robert H. Lustig, M.D. is the president of the nonprofit Institute for Responsible Nutrition, dedicated to reversing childhood obesity and Type 2 diabetes. In the first half, he argued that processed food has been ruining our health for many years. He outlined eight pathologies that underlie chronic disease-- various ways in which the body's cells can deteriorate or age, such as oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and inflammation. The American diet of processed foods (items that typically have more than five ingredients) is a significant contributor in hastening these various cellular pathologies, he declared. Processed foods, he added, are often high in sugar and low in fiber.

He offered two precepts that he associates with healthy foods-- protect the liver, and feed the gut. Items to avoid introducing to the liver include sugars, iron, glyphosate, heavy metals, and trans fats, while the gut likes fiber both soluble and insoluble, he cited. While Lustig believes mask-wearing, distancing, and hand washing are appropriate measures to avoid COVID, he suggested that a diet in ultra-processed food can make a person more susceptible to severe symptoms of the virus. Dementia, he continued, is one of the most harmful aspects of eating processed foods. Alzheimer's used to be relatively rare, but now it affects 20% of all people who reach the age of 75. It's caused by mitochondrial dysfunction at the level of the brain, he explained, but "when you fix the food, you can actually improve cognition" and reverse some of the decline.

Robert Schwartz is a certified hypnotherapist who offers spiritual guidance and regressions. In the latter half, he talked about how the direction for our lives and relationships is set up by our souls before birth and assisted by higher beings who intervene on our behalf. Our experiences on the Earth plane are not random, as during pre-birth, the soul, in consultation with spirit guides or ascended masters, puts a kind of road map together, he explained. It's "a range of possibilities depending on the personality's free will." A small percentage of souls express fear or doubt about their plan, in which case it's modified so that they're agreeable with it, he added.

He delved into why people might choose or agree to various hardships in a given life, like poverty or illness. The reasons he listed included balancing or releasing karma, healing energies from a past life, experiencing contrast, and correcting false beliefs about the self. According to his research into pre-birth planning, we pick out challenges to cultivate qualities that are important to our souls, such as patience, unconditional love, and empathy. Schwartz also spoke about his therapeutic Between Lives Soul Regression, in which he puts clients into a lengthy trance to re-experience a past life that had a big impact on the plan for their current lifetime. In June, he is offering an online workshop on awakening to your life purpose and discovering your life plan.
