Particle Physics & Astronomy / Demonic Attacks

About the show

A senior scientist at Fermilab, the US' premier particle physics laboratory, Don Lincoln splits his research time between the Fermilab Tevatron and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), based at CERN in Europe. In the first half, he discussed the re-activation of CERN after being shut down by the pandemic, as well as the big mysteries in astronomy right now, including dark matter, and how galaxies defy physics. At the LHC, beams of protons collide at nearly the speed of light, "and what we're doing is essentially recreating the conditions of the Big Bang," when the universe began. While these collisions occur at temperatures 100,000 times hotter than the sun's center, there is no danger to the planet because it is like two mosquitoes crashing into each other, he explained.

The Higgs boson (the so-called God Particle) gives mass to the tiny particles they study, like electrons and quarks, and its presence was confirmed at CERN. The LHC allows for particle collisions at speeds higher than ever before, and may lead to unexpected discoveries beyond the Higgs, he added. Dark matter is one of the most fascinating topics being studied, Lincoln noted. It's hypothesized that it could be a kind of cloud surrounding galaxies-- ghost-like invisible matter that doesn't emit light and actually holds a galaxy together. Regarding black holes, they are formed when massive stars collapse and explode. Parts of the star (three to ten times the mass of our sun) are crushed into a tiny size like an atom, and the gravity is so powerful near them that light can't escape, and time slows down, he marveled.

MR Gorga is a former copywriter and journalist with film & TV credentials. In the latter half, he spoke about his research into cases of demonic attacks and possession. He suggested that demons are fallen angels who lost their domain in heaven and were cast down to Earth, and now consider it their home. When possessing a person, the demons believe they were invited in and belong there, he added. Gorga described middle-of-the-night encounters with a strangling entity-- there were "invisible iron hands clasped around my throat...squeezing the life out of me." A person is particularly vulnerable in the sleep state or in the wee hours to demonic interactions, he remarked.

Gorga contends that people who experiment with occultic practices are often susceptible to demonic attacks or influence. The goal of demons is to steal, kill, and destroy, he said, and such things as greed, depression, and suicide can be part of the demon's grip. He cited an incident described in the Bible, when Jesus cast out demons of a man who lived in a graveyard and said his name was "legion," indicating as many as 2,000 entities may have possessed him. By calling out the name of Jesus, an individual can repel demonic entities, but if someone is under the influence of a full-blown possession, they will need to enlist help to cast out the entity, he said.
