Pascagoula Alien Abduction

About the show

The date was October 11th, 1973, at the Pascagoula River, Mississippi. Two shipyard workers, Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker, decided to go fishing on the river after work. That night their lives were changed forever. UFO researchers Philip Mantle and Irena Scott have detailed this encounter in their new book and joined host George Knapp for a 4-hour extravaganza to delve into what happened to Calvin Parker, who claims he was abducted that night. George played Calvin's own words from his previous interview on Coast, along with new audio from his hypnosis session about what transpired during the Pascagoula alien abduction incident (Related UFO Sketch).

In his previous Coast appearance Calvin described the beings that took him as "ugly and robotic," with gray wrinkled skin like an elephant or manatee, no neck, and crab-like hands. They stood about five to six feet tall and moved by gliding over the ground. "I've never seen nothing that looked just like these... they were more robotic than anything," he said.

Scott shared details from the night of the abduction. Charles and Calvin had been fishing in a no trespassing area when they saw a blue light which they thought was a police car. What appeared was a brightly lit oval-shaped object from which three beings emerged. One of the beings snatched Calvin while the other two grabbed Charles. They recalled being paralyzed, floated aboard the craft, and receiving some kind of scan. According to their account, something like an eye came out of the ceiling and rotated around them. They were returned about a half an hour later in a state of shock, Scott noted.

"They didn't even believe in UFOs at the time," Scott continued, adding the two had decided initially not to tell anyone what happened to them but Charles convinced Calvin they should report it. The sheriff's office took their reports while the details were fresh and even placed a hidden tape recorder in the room with them to determine if Charles and Calvin were perpetrating a hoax. The police concluded they were telling the truth, she disclosed.

"The whole Pascagoula case is unique in its entirety," Mantle suggested, noting the strangeness of the creatures and number of confirming details surrounding the abduction account. The day after the incident Charles and Calvin went to a hospital for a checkup, then were taken to a military base to be checked for radiation. While there, they once again recounted their experiences which were recorded by a stenographer. They were given polygraph tests and passed, Mantle explained, noting Charles had a voice analysis test on a later date as well. "They passed all the tests," he reported.

Mantle and Scott spoke about other witnesses to the sighting, including a couple that was across the river from Charles and Calvin. The couple described seeing lights and something like a gray humanoid coming out of the river, and they also claimed to have been abducted. In addition, the police on the night of the incident took at least 50 related calls and in-person reports about the object.
