Natural Remedies / Cosmology & Science

About the show

In the first half, Dr. Joel Wallach discussed the human body and its ability to achieve healing with natural remedies that aid in the body's recovery from chronic conditions. Citing the importance of nutrition, he argued that the vast majority of people need to take supplements. Wallach commented on the staggering healthcare costs associated with treating symptoms of diseases like arthritis and osteoporosis, which he claims stem from nutritional deficiencies. Each year in America, we spend $626.8 billion just to treat symptoms, he reported, underscoring the financial burden of conventional medicine.

Doctors treat just the symptoms because they want to have you as a patient for 25, 30, 40 years, he suggested, highlighting the need for a more proactive approach to one's health. Wallach shared a compelling success story about a woman named Madeline, whom he said reversed her Parkinson's disease after following his nutritional program. Listeners inquired about specific ailments, such as Dupuytren's contracture and arthritis, and he provided tailored recommendations, a combination of essential nutrients and supplements to support recovery. He described his approach as one that not only addresses immediate issues but also fosters long-term health.

In the latter half, Bob Berman, a leading astronomy writer, delved into an array of cosmology and science topics. Berman, who leads special interest tours to view phenomena like the Northern Lights and total solar eclipses, emphasized the importance of authentic astronomy images, cautioning listeners about the prevalence of digitally manipulated photos online. On the intersection of science and spirituality, he detailed varying perspectives of astronomers regarding the existence of a higher intelligence, as well as viewpoints from Eastern religion. Regarding quantum theory, he noted that its pioneers discovered that "the results depended upon what was observed," indicating a deep connection between perception and reality.

Revealing a little-known scientific fact, he said that colors don't really exist in the universe but are a product of the brain's perception. In further exploring consciousness, Berman noted, "Science has never found a way to make awareness come from any combination of energy or matter, and so they conclude that it's a basic fundamental, that...consciousness is always there." Sharing his views on the multiverse theory, he remarked, "If there are actually many universes... then there are thousands or maybe millions of universes," but almost all of them would be unfriendly to life as we understand it. He also touched on such subjects as the Big Bang, gravity, and the simulation hypothesis.
