Undercover Operations / Witchcraft Practice

About the show

In the first half, former FBI agent Scott D. Payne shared insights from his law enforcement career, particularly his undercover work, and the unique challenges in infiltrating criminal organizations. He detailed his work posing as a member of the white supremacist group known as "The Base" in the backwoods of Georgia. Payne described the group's radical ideology, which aims to establish an ethno-state and embraces violent tactics reminiscent of guerrilla warfare. They want to speed up society's collapse, he explained, highlighting their belief in a coming racial holy war. He uncovered murder plots and plans for violent confrontations at events like a Second Amendment rally in Virginia. "They used to call D-Day their Boogaloo," he noted, referring to their desire for chaos.

He emphasized the alarming profile of many members: young, isolated individuals armed to the teeth, preparing for what they believe is an impending societal breakdown. He also discussed the group's connections to extremist ideologies, likening their structure to that of al-Qaeda, with "three to five-man cells" waiting for orders. "They were looking at property in the Appalachian Mountains to create their own compound," he said, revealing the group's aspirations for territorial control. Payne also recounted a disturbing ritual involving animal sacrifice that he took part in while undercover, in which the group members twisted pagan beliefs to justify their actions.

In the latter half, modern-day witch and author Phoenix LeFae discussed her witchcraft practice and rituals and their significance in her life. Rituals can be as simple as infusing intention into a morning cup of tea. "I acknowledge the sacredness of the earth on a daily basis," she explained, noting how ordinary actions can carry spiritual weight. When asked about the distinction between Wicca and witchcraft, she clarified that Wicca is a "specific tradition and lineage," suggesting that while there's overlap, they are not synonymous. She also acknowledged the existence of both good and bad witches, just as there are good and bad people everywhere.

On the topic of casting spells, she admitted to having done so impulsively in her youth but now approaches spellwork with caution and ethical consideration. "Everything has a cost," she noted, emphasizing her focus on positive intentions in her practice. When asked where to start for those interested in witchcraft, she suggested visiting metaphysical bookstores, attending witchcraft conferences, and exploring reputable online resources. "There are so many ways in... one size does not fit all," she explained, highlighting the diversity within witchcraft traditions.

LeFae also shared her passion for candle magic, describing it as "visceral" and an effective way to manifest intentions. "It requires intention and focus... it takes practice," she detailed, pointing out that effective spellwork involves more than mere wishes. During the last hour, she offered witchcraft-based advice for callers.
