Alien Abduction Phenomena

About the show

Pioneering UFO abduction researcher Budd Hopkins (1931-2011) was Art's guest for this episode of the classic "Dreamland" show. Art and Hopkins first discussed their own UFO sightings and how this changed their lives. Hopkins said he had interviewed about 450 UFO abductees and stated that "this is the biggest event in all of human history," and described his witnesses as even less accepting of their experience than the general public since the reality of the event was so shocking.

While he decried the suppression of the phenomenon by most media and the scientific community, as well as the infamous skeptic Phillip Klass, Hopkins did see hope in more favorable press coverage as of late. He described the aliens reported to him as "a nonhuman intelligence from elsewhere which exhibits an enormous advancement over us, technologically," and seeming to be neither "benevolent or malevolent," and "not causing deliberate pain or deliberate hardship or taking over the world," but also unaware of the terror and confusion that they cause in people who encounter them.

Hopkins suggested that the aliens might have reached a place in their evolution where they have lost their capacity for emotions and need humans to relearn or experience this. He commented that some consider the abduction issue to be caused by Satanic influence, but this was not his view, even though he recounted some frightening and even horrific reports. Beginning in the second hour, Hopkins took calls from listeners, some of whom shared their own experiences. In the first segment, investigator Linda Moulton Howe played a recording of filmmaker Robert Emenegger recalling a "pre-arranged landing" of a UFO at Holloman AFB in New Mexico in May of 1971.
