Big Bang & Cosmos / Open Lines

About the show

Art opened the show talking about scientists working on "Art’s Parts," which was discussed on the 5/31/96 show with Linda Moulton Howe. He then welcomed scientist John Kierein to discuss his disagreement with "red shift" (a way to measure the speed of celestial objects) and the Big Bang theory. Kierein pondered what "lives outside" of the start of the Big Bang, and what happened before this point. He argued that he could prove that the universe did not start with a massive explosion, and that we live in a static universe.

In the second hour, Art read a fax from a creationist that challenged Kierein, and the guest rebutted the claim. Kierein also pondered if there was an equal amount of matter and anti-matter in the universe.

The last three hours featured news and Open Lines, including such topics as the standoff with the Montana Freemen, free speech on the Internet, the chupacabras, and an increase in violent incidents.
