Dannion Brinkley has had two Near-Death Experiences (NDEs.) The first was after having lightning come down a phone line and stop his heart, the second was during open-heart surgery. He was Art's guest for the entire program and spoke about how these episodes changed him completely and caused him to lose his fear of death. He was dead for 28 minutes after the phone incident and recalled seeing people trying to revive him. He was transported to a realm where he saw a "city built as lights" that looked like it was made of crystal.

The most disturbing thing about having an NDE is that all of a sudden 75% of everything you've been told is now "just crap," he revealed. Being dead was amazing and wonderful according to Brinkley. Death is not something to be afraid of, it's just a transition from this life to the next, he explained.

He also spoke about a pediatrician who has resuscitated hundreds of children, many of them recalling they saw people "waiting to be born," which he witnessed as well. Brinkley said he become more aware of who he was than ever before, and described taking back his "natural identity" in the afterlife.
