Nanotech & the Internet's Future

About the show

Charles Ostman was Art's guest for the entire show. Ostman has authored numerous technical papers and published articles, and lectures frequently around the country and abroad. He has 25+ years experience in the fields of electronics, materials science, computing and artificial intelligence, including eight years at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory at the University of California, and Los Alamos National Laboratory. He spoke about the future of the internet and nanotechnology, and suggested that eventually sentient beings would exist on the internet, which was prophetic for the time.

The subject of nanotechnology is also addressed. During calls, one listener asked about class issues – who will have access to these wonders? Ostman suggested that it's probably going to be for the rich only, but hoped he was wrong. He pointed out that the exact manipulation of molecules using nanotechnology could create food – Art asked if it could create gold bars as well.
