Open Lines & TWA Flight 800

About the show

In this Open Lines program, Art and the callers discussed mysteries and controversies surrounding the explosion of TWA Flight 800. A photograph on MSNBC's website showed what looked like a missile heading towards the doomed aircraft, and the woman who took the picture says she wishes she never did. It has since disappeared from the internet.

Art said his compass suddenly stopped working and read a fax from a man who noticed his compass was suddenly off by ten degrees. Callers reacted to this as well. Politics were also addressed with discussion about the Clintons and the recent Democratic convention.

Later, Art read a news item about a man in a police standoff in Billings, MT, who refused to give up his hotel room that was infested with pet rats that were as "big as cats," which he referred to as his "brothers." A caller from the town said they closed down the high school and even some streets due to the incident, where authorities used tear gas, which the man thwarted with a gas mask.
