About the show

Mark Burnett is Art's guest in the first hour. A British television producer, Burnett is best known as the producer of Survivor and the creator of the Apprentice. At the time of this interview, he was the executive producer for Survivor, Celebrity Apprentice, The Voice, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, Shark Tank, and The People's Choice Awards. He talks about how he created these popular programs, and specifically Survivor – many of the participants on that show dismiss the cameras almost immediately due to the difficulty of the game, he shared.

Howard Rheingold joins Art for hours 2-4 to discuss technology and how it's shaping our lives. A critic, writer, and teacher, he explores the cultural, social and political implications of modern communication media including the internet, mobile technology, and virtual communications. Art revealed how he is addicted to the web – he doesn’t go out because of the web. Rheingold speculates this is the third leap in technology and how all of technology is merging together.

Howard ponders a time when people all over the world will be carrying devices that are all linked together – how will this affect us socially? Interesting to note how he correctly predicted our smart phone era. The discussion of Napster and file sharing comes up too, and how the music industry is changing.
