Prof. Lawrence M. Krauss is an internationally known theoretical physicist who has investigated questions ranging from the nature of exploding stars to the origin of all mass in the universe. He talked about the paradox of time travel – killing your grandmother would make you not exist. Many physicists say that time travel is impossible in a sensible universe. But Krauss says that given the laws of physics it would not make it impossible. In order for time travel to occur, there must be very exotic types of energy you have to create that are totally different from anything that we know of today.
For backwards time travel, you might have to play out the exact same situations - it would be a constant loop of actions. If space-time is circular, then it allows time travel, but it’s very specific about how it allows it, he suggested. Krauss argued that other life in the universe seems quite likely, but the main question is if there is intelligent life. He added that it is extremely unlikely that other intelligent life forms are visiting us.
