UFO Sightings

About the show

Art's guest for the entire program, National UFO Reporting Center Director Peter Davenport, presented witnesses who shared dramatic UFO sightings. The first guest was MUFON field investigator Kim Shaffer, who talked about his sighting in Bristol, Tennessee on August 3, 2003, where he was lucky enough to shoot video of the object. Shaffer described it as a "disc" that was copper colored, highly reflective, and totally featureless, with "prefect symmetry." Shaffer observed the object in greater detail through binoculars. A nearby airport would neither confirm nor deny if the object had appeared on radar. The next witness, Steve Cattola, described his dramatic daylight sighting of a disc shape which was "black on the bottom and metallic on top" with something like a "cockpit" on the upper surface. Sue Watson recalled her family's sighting of the Phoenix Lights, which she recalled was an "incredible lit-up vehicle… coming slowly over the mountain with five bright lights in front," which was immense and "boomerang" shaped.

Davenport then discussed the general state of ufology and how the US Government's structure and bureaucracy hampers not only knowledge of UFOs, but in Davenport's opinion, also does not serve the public interest. He contended that a series of presidents have agreed to assist in the withholding of UFO information from public view. Davenport also described his four-hour meeting in 1997 with government officials about UFO cases that involved aircraft. He declared, "We are just awakening as a planet to the presence of other intelligent life forms in our galaxy" and that "all ufology is political." In the last hour, Davenport took listener calls.
