Celebrity Ghost Cases / Sensing Magnetic Fields

About the show

The A&E program, "Celebrity Ghost Stories," follows world-renowned psychic-medium Kim Russo as she brings some of the biggest names in entertainment back to the sites of their previous paranormal experiences for an unfiltered, emotional, and sometimes terrifying reunion with the ghosts of their past. In the first half, she joined George Knapp to discuss her life as a psychic medium, which she said began at age 5 when she received an electric shock from an outlet in her home. Soon after, she said that she could see "a group of strangers standing at the foot of my bed." They were silent, and eventually went away, but returned when she was an adult and identified themselves as the dead, asking her to contact living relatives and tell them that they were OK.

Russo detailed some of the stories from her TV show. She said that singer Meat Loaf had an experience that "shook him to the core" and was able to finally come to terms with disturbing memories of an evil entity from his childhood through a message from his mother that Russo conveyed. During filming, Russo said that some celebrities "want to stop the cameras when I get real with them." One of her favorite clients was legendary singer Wayne Newton, who claimed that he was startled to see the ghost of Elvis Presley appear while he was on stage during a performance. Russo helped him to contact Presley and reconcile his experience, and recalled that, "in a strange way, I felt that I got to meet Elvis that day."

In the second half, Dr. Barry Taff, who holds a doctorate in psychophysiology, discussed evidence that human brain waves respond to changes in magnetic fields, and this indicates a new human sense: magnetoreception. Taff described this ability as present in perhaps 1.5% of the population, and is conspicuously present in people he calls "poltergeist agents," or those who seem to attract and even create paranormal manifestations. Taff says that he has found that there is some sort of energy that can connect with humans. Although it is not "nuclear, electromagnetic or gravitation... it can affect all of them" and cause paranormal phenomena such as balls of light, disembodied voices, movement of objects, etc.

Taff also described his experiences with famous haunting cases such as the one that formed the basis for the "Entity" feature film. He recalled the strange situation (typical of paranormal cases) in which "what we saw we couldn't photograph, and what we photographed we didn't see," such as "lime green" blobs of light and even a disembodied figure that appeared before a roomful of witnesses. He also recounted his strange experiences at a property near the infamous home where the Manson "family" murdered Sharon Tate and others. He concluded that "this phenomena seems to need living people to work through."
