In a strange story out of India, a man who was declared dead suddenly came back to life when an ambulance transporting him to his funeral hit a pothole. According to a local media report, the shocking incident occurred this past week in the community of Patiala when Darshan Singh Brar was taken to the hospital by his grandson after he had fallen ill. The 80-year-old man was placed on a ventilator for four days until this past Thursday when doctors declared him dead after his heart had stopped beating. Upon receiving the sad news, his family arranged for an ambulance to transport his body to his hometown of Nising, where they planned to hold a funeral. However, Brar's story took a miraculous turn on the way to his memorial service.
While en route to Nising, the ambulance struck a pothole, which jolted the vehicle and its occupants. Moments later, Brar's astonished grandson, who was riding along with his body, noticed that he was moving his hand. It was subsequently determined that the 'dead' man still had a heartbeat and the ambulance made a detour to the nearest hospital where he is currently being treated in their intensive care unit. As one might imagine, Brar's family is overjoyed at his good fortune. "It is a miracle," his grandson marveled, recalling how "everyone who had gathered to mourn his death congratulated us" and the memorial service ultimately turned out to be a celebration.
