A French tourist visiting Loch Ness was left scratching his head when he spotted a rather sizeable anomaly that appeared to be swimming just beneath the surface of the water. The possible Nessie sighting was reportedly made by Etienne Camel as he and his wife were vacationing at the iconic Scottish site. While taking some pictures to commemorate their trip, he was stunned to notice something peculiar in the water (seen in the image below). "I saw this long, long shadow," Camel recalled, estimating that the oddity measured around 50 to 65 feet in length. When he called his wife over to look at the weird sight, they were both surprised to see that it was moving and, in turn, making "small waves."
Carmel indicated that he initially suspected that the anomaly could have been the reflection of a cloud, but noted that there were none overhead which could account for strange shape in the water. According to the witness, the puzzling object lingered just below the surface of the water for several minutes before it finally disappeared. Although he described himself as a "man of science" and insisted that he "never believed that the Loch Ness monster is a prehistoric animal," Carmel conceded that he has no explanation for what he photographed and simply mused that "it was quite strange."
