Zimbabwean University Professor Plagued by Mysterious 'Supernatural' Fires

An esteemed university professor in Zimbabwe says that his life has been torn asunder by a series of mysterious fires that seem to have a supernatural origin. According to a local media report, the bizarre case began six weeks ago when Methuseli Moyo, seasoned journalist and educator at Zimbabwe's National University of Science and Technology, noticed things in his home were suddenly and inexplicably bursting into flames. Initially chalked up to being strange isolated incidents, the fires soon became unbearable as they increased in their frequency and destruction while also physically tormenting the professor.

"I'll suddenly feel my skin burning, but when I scream for help, my family can't see any fire,” Moyo revealed, "they pour water on me, and only later do the blisters appear. It's like something invisible is attacking me." Eerily, the professor observed that the recurring infernos appear to be specifically aimed at upending his life as, throughout the odd ordeal, the baffling blazes have claimed all of his business suits, two pricey leather couches, and various important legal documents, including the deed to his home. The most costly incident to date, which made Moyo come forward with his story, was the loss of a whopping $20,000 cash that was lost in a most unusual fashion.

Fearful that the money, which came from a recent property sale, could fall victim to the mysterious fires plaguing his life, Moyo smartly thought to store the funds in a bucket of water but found that he could not enact his plan fast enough. "I left the money in the wardrobe for just 20 minutes," he recalled with dismay, "when my wife screamed, we ran in and saw smoke. The cash was ashes, but the wooden wardrobe? Unharmed. My clothes? Perfectly fine. The fire only wanted the money." Given the fiery misfortune that has repeatedly befallen him and his family, Moyo and many others speculate that there could be a supernatural explanation for the unnerving series of events.

Told by some traditional healers that his predicament is the result of a curse cast upon him, the professor spoke directly to the aggrieved individual who may be behind the madness in the hopes of ending his suffering. "If I’ve wronged anyone, even unknowingly, I beg you, come forward. Let me make amends," Moyo implored, lamenting that "my family can't sleep. We're afraid to leave the house empty, afraid to stay inside. This isn't just about money, it's about our sanity." What do you think has afflicted the esteemed professor?
