Nuclear Dangers

Hosted byArt Bell

Harvey Wasserman is an American journalist, author, democracy activist, and advocate for renewable energy, and is senior advisor to Greenpeace USA and the Nuclear Information and Resource Service, as well as an investigative reporter. Wasserman first spoke on the possibility of a nuclear war between Pakistan and India, and said that the entire planet would be blanketed in higher radiation with an immediate increase in newborn cancer deaths, spontaneous abortions, mutations, etc.

Wasserman said current bombs are far larger than the ones dropped in WWII, that they served no purpose, and that nuclear plants will eventually be phased out. They discussed wind power, but Art thought the wind industry couldn't compete with the oil industry when it comes to buying politicians.

In Hour 1, Art reported that NASA had just canceled a press conference regarding water on Mars. Richard C. Hoagland discussed the implications of this supposed cover-up. Art asked Richard to answer questions from the point of view of NASA and what their motivations would be for keeping secrets. They ended with a conversation about a manned Mars mission.
