Video: Guest at Haunted Missouri Inn Reports Eerie Experience

A Missouri inn with a long history of paranormal activity has yet another spooky incident to add to its proverbial haunted ledger after a guest had an eerie experience during his stay there this week. According to a local media report, the chilling incident occurred on early Wednesday morning at the Belvoir Winery and Inn in the city of Liberty. Once an orphanage that housed around 450 children in the early 1900s, the building has since earned a reputation for being haunted thanks to an array of strange and unsettling events that staff and visitors have experienced over the years.

"People come here for that reason, from all over the nation" operating manager Jesse Leimkuehler marveled, noting that he had several moments of high strangeness during his time working at the inn, including seeing apparitions and hearing disembodied voices and footsteps. While the potential for experiencing paranormal activity is something of a draw for the site, the individual at the center of the most recent incident was actually not a supernatural thrill seeker. "We had one guest that came through that didn't know there was paranormal activity here or anything like that," Leimkuehler explained of the man who stayed at the inn on Tuesday evening.

To the visitor's surprise, the manager recalled, "he had a hand reach up and grab his leg underneath the sheets" at around two o'clock in the morning. "Freaked him out at the time," Leimkuehler said, "but he didn't leave. He stayed and then he told me about it" upon checking out the next day, which is when the manager presumably revealed to the man that he had just stayed the night at a haunted inn. While the experience may have been unnerving in the moment, Leimkuehler indicated that the guest called the creepy clutch "pretty awesome" in retrospect and something that made him want to return in the future for another spooky stay.
