Residents of a Texas neighborhood have a delightful mystery on their hands in the form of a massive inflatable Santa that suddenly popped up on an empty lot in the community. According to a local media report, the enormous decoration appeared in the appropriately named Hollytree portion of the city of Tyler last week. Recalling the moment she first stumbled upon the sizeable Santa, resident Marsha Daugherty said "'I came around the corner here and thought 'wow, what's happening?'" Her sense of wonder was echoed by the rest of the neighborhood, which has no idea who is responsible for the giant Saint Nick now taking up residence in Hollytree.
As one might imagine, children in the community are particularly enamored with the gigantic mystery Santa as resident Nate Navetta marveled that "I was shocked when I first saw it and I thought it was so big." To that end, his sister Eva mused that the decoration, which dwarfs people walking past it, should serve as something of a beacon for Saint Nick when he makes his rounds later this month. "He’s definitely coming to our neighborhood," she declared, "and he's never going to miss my house." While the merry prankster behind the giant Santa may remain a mystery, considering the joy the decoration has already brought to the community, it's safe to say that their mission has been accomplished.
